The unrecorded Public Right of Way at Stainton Grove, Co. Durham

The footpath starts at The Avenue

and follows the tank track across the field.

The loop section of the footpath begins here. Go straight ahead along the side of the plantation;

where it curves to the left

and cuts through the plantation.

Turn left and follow the verge

to the wooden gate and turn left again

Now go south

to where the footpath crossed earlier to complete the looped section of the footpath.

Go right to return

to the beginning

at the Avenue.

The footpath starts at The Avenue

The land east of here was once owned by John Bowes but in November 1941 it became the property of the War Department. It remained in military use until 1972. In 1980 it became the property of the district council. (Unless labelled 2005 all the photographs date from 2002).
