Why didn't they ask us?

2002 - March 7	The Community Association raised their concerns in a letter to Teesdale District Council:  'By the time any public consultation is forthcoming we feel that the matter will be a foregone conclusion'. (191)
2002 - March 20	In response to these concerns of the Community Association, Teesdale District Council wrote: 'It was always the intention that the local community would be consulted .. but .. it would have been premature to do this before concrete proposals were on the table' (185)
2002 - April 17	The community services committee of Teesdale District Council approved the lease of Stainton Grove land to Durham County Council for a peppercorn.  Again, concerns were raised regarding the lack of consultation with residents. 2002 - April 30	All the footpaths in the district, including the footpath at Stainton Grove, are now open following the lifting of Foot and Mouth restrictions. (174)
