I am wondering if there is anyone that may be able to help regarding information about my uncle Edward George Howard (23232431 Kings Own Royal Borders).. I am aware he had a son Michael and obtained a birth certificate. I never met him, and he passed away in 1984, and I have never been able to trace any of his family as yet.

I have found that he was married the year before (1959?) in Gottingen Neidersachsen, Germany, but I have no idea how long he was at Stainton for. The mother Rosa Irmgard Howard (Nee Windus), would have been the second of his 3 marriages, and he went on to marry again in 1974.

Any help would be most welcome.

Many thanks

Richard Purvis

(The birth certificate shows that Michael John Howard was born to Rosa Irmgard. Howard (Nee Windus).  Edward George Howard the father was named as being a 23232431 Kings Own Royal Borders. I am not 100% sure it is my uncle yet, but I was told he had a son called Micheal around 1960, but I'm not sure of the mothers name.)

The Memories of Stainton Grove Military Camp Project was one of a number of community-led projects along and nearby the route of the proposed South West Durham Heritage Corridor.

The South West Durham Heritage Corridor will be a multi-user route along the former Bishop Auckland to Barnard Castle railway line.
